Hi Arty Friends
I have to admit I am a hoarder. So some of my material was purchased way back in the hope and anticipation that I will need all this very soon. But then there is a time for everything. So I did have some old canvases that were side stapled. I loved the artwork on them once I completed them. But the side staples made me cringe. And I dint really want to spend more money on getting them framed. Besides I believe every home has a different decor and hence should frame their art locally if needed. But you don't really have to frame them.
And I found two great ways to finish the sides.
And I found two great ways to finish the sides.
This is the other side where I have colored only lightly and the paper can be seen through to add some drama.
Cover the sides with Texture white medium and create a frame kind of look. Apply with a knife, create a texture with your fingers and paint once dry.
If your art is whimsical you can also use Washi tapes (sorry I don't have any sample to show you for this one)
And of course staple of no staple sometimes I like extending my paintings like this one. This was created for the Creatively Fit Coaching Program and it has its own story. Some other time.
Happy painting folks.

I love this idea, Prerna! I think I will do the torn paper collage on the sides of my canvas. I have a large one that I am painting a peacock on, and did not really want to frame it. Thank you!
